7QT Friday: A Birth and an Ultrasound

This last 4 weeks have brought the wedding of our fifth child, a daughter, our ninth started university and now this week our third grandchild made a peaceful début upon the stage of life and an unborn grandchild caused his parents to celebrate, Life continues to change and evolve.

New life equals joy, a joy that transcends pain, inconvenience, or hardships because new life is worth any sacrifice.
Yesterday while holding our 6 hour old grandchild, I was reminded how incredibly intelligent newborns are and how much they learn while they are still in the womb. Madelynne’s eyes widen slightly as one of my daughters spoke. When I responded, this hours old little person turned her head back to me and her eyes widened slightly again. Her non-verbal communication was clear as a bell,

“Ah, I know your voices; so this is what you both look like ?”

I was also reminded of that famous passage in the Psalms:

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.

and even more telling from the prophet Jeremiah:

Jeremiah 1:5

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

Job 33:4

The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

Job 31:15

Did not he who made me in the womb make him? And did not one fashion us in the womb?
