On this Feast of St. Jerome
Thanking God for
Well first of all I am thanking God for St Jerome, of course!!
We NEED a patron saint for students.
One of my daughters is struggling to learn Greek. I can’t wait to remind her about St. Jerome and especially send her some of the great images of this fellow. He is often pictured with lions,,,,if St Jerome can tame lions, he can tame Greek for her!!
I
A favorite quote for today, since we are honouring St. Jerome:
Search the Scriptures, and Seek and you shall find. Christ will not say to me what he said to the Jews: You erred, not knowing the Scriptures and not knowing the power of God. For if, as Paul says, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God, and if the man who does not know Scripture does not know the power and wisdom of God, then ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ.
Looking out my window: Leaves are just starting to turn yellow and a deep red. And the smell of wood smoke on cooler mornings when we light a fire in the wood stove to take the chill off the house in the mornings
I am pondering…C. S Lewis because the man was brilliant. I have already posted a collection of quotes on both of my blogs. Friendship Friday: My Favorite Things = C.S. Lewis, I found 10 quotes from C.S. Lewis that remind me how crucial our mundane, day-to-day lives are. This one really reminds me not to sink into self-pity,
I am gardening, pruning, clearing brush and even weeding the meadows and other large areas on our 7 acres this week because the weather warmed up. It feels like God is giving me a second chance since I slacked off this summer. I don’t work well in the heat but then suddenly a couple of weeks ago it was too wet and cold!! The very fact that the last week and a half has been in the 20’s, has been pure gift.
Look what I found... beautiful stained glass image that celebrates not only the holy family but every family

Gorgeous images.
And oh I love the smoke smell on a cold morning walk with the dogs in a nice, thick, soft sweater…. sigh!
Blessings,
Emily
