7QT Friday: Cancer and Prayer

  • Both my husband I received the Sacrament of the Sick for the first time in our lives. 6 days ago. This morning, Michael is undergoing surgery to remove a very small lesion. It well be simply scraped off the bladder wall. The surgeon caught the malignancy in the earliest possible stage but it is still a worry.

  • I received the sacrament for inner healing as a result of carrying  generational burdens since I was a young child.We had nothing to do with this ; a friend invited a priest to administer the sacrament without our knowledge. It truly was like the experience in the bible where friends of the paralytic do all the work.
  • The experience was powerful. A sacramental moment, a moment of profound stillness, without any effort expended by either of us. Simply brought on a stretcher, laid at the feet of Jesus waiting with open hands open heart for His saving, healing power. It came like a wave of heat, soothing yet burning heat, burning all chaff, all that was not of God and infusing a deep abiding Presence.
