In Death, St. Padre Pio Looks …. Alive

Padre Pio was a stigmatic for fifty years. Not only that, his spiritual presence could be sensed with a smell of perfume, he could bilocate, prophecy, read souls, and cure miraculously. People are still being cured through his intercession in ways that cannot be explained by medicine or science. More important, if less spectacular, are the spiritual healings that take place in all parts of the world.

Forty years after his death, Padre Pio looks amazing.
I love this image because it is a wonderful example of the power of being transformed  by the Holy Spirit.
It is such a sign of hope for all of us.
A visible sign of what it actually means to live in, with and through the Holy Spirit.
It is not just words or theology but an in the flesh experience, sharing in the life of Christ.
 .
Padre Pio quotes
 .
“Don’t allow any sadness to dwell in your soul,
for sadness prevents the Holy Spirit from entering freely.”

My past, O Lord, to Your mercy; my present, to Your love;
my future to Your providence.”
.
 .
 .
“Pray, hope, and don’t worry. Worry is useless.
God is merciful and will hear your prayer.”
 .
“Prayer is the best weapon we have; it is the key to God’s heart.  You must speak to Jesus not only with your lips, but with your heart.  In fact on certain occasions you should only speak to Him with your heart.”

  1. ‘Pray, hope and don’t worry’ is a favourite of mine.
Do you know this story…. a Brother commiserated with Padre Pio following the death of his father. P Pio thanked him and said he was just praying for a happy death for his father.

“But your father died two weeks ago Padre”

    …….”Yes….!!

  2. What a great picture of Padre Pio in the glass casket. The National Shrine tof Padre Pio is less than an hour from my home. My children have taken class trips there, but I have NEVER BEEN! (yet). Must go this week. Thank you for the inspiration.
